Common questions

Singapore BTT, FTT & RTT — practical answers for learners Japan 普通免許 & 二輪免許 — practical answers for learners

How many questions are in BTT, FTT and RTT — and what's the pass mark?
Each Singapore theory test has 50 multiple-choice questions, a 50-minute time limit, and a 90% pass mark (45 correct). Motorcycle riders take RTT instead of FTT after the BTT. TheoryLane mock tests use the same format.
What order do I take BTT, FTT and practical lessons?
Register at BBDC, CDC or SSDC → pass BTT → start practical lessons → pass FTT (or RTT for motorcycles) after at least 5 car lessons → book the Traffic Police practical test. You cannot skip BTT.
Where do I book the theory test and how much does it cost?
Book BTT, FTT and RTT on OneMotoring (onemotoring.lta.gov.sg). Each attempt costs about S$7.09 including GST. If you fail, you can rebook after 3 days and pay the fee again.
I'm from Myanmar — can I convert my licence or must I take BTT?
Myanmar licence holders with a valid Singapore work pass or PR may be able to convert at the Traffic Police — you may not need BTT. If you are on a work permit or have been in Singapore over 12 months without converting, you typically need to pass BTT like other new drivers. Check OneMotoring for your situation.
Can I study Singapore theory tests in Myanmar language?
Yes. TheoryLane is one of the few BTT/FTT/RTT practice sites with full Myanmar (Burmese) translations for questions and explanations, alongside English — ideal for Myanmar nationals working in Singapore.
How many questions are in the Japan final theory test and what's the pass mark?
The 本免許学科試験 (final written exam) for car and motorcycle has 95 questions, 50 minutes, and requires 86 correct answers (90%). The provisional 仮免学科 test at the start has 50 questions with the same 90% pass mark.
What's the best path for Myanmar nationals getting a Japan licence?
Myanmar has no direct licence conversion agreement with Japan. Most people either enrol at a 指定教習所 (driving school) — expensive but reliable — or attempt the 一発試験 at the licence centre, which is cheaper but harder without school training. Either way you must pass the written theory tests.
When do I take 仮免許 vs the final 本免許学科試験?
At a driving school: pass 仮免学科 + 仮免技能 during Stage 1, get your provisional licence, complete on-road training (Stage 2), graduate from school, then sit only the 本免許学科試験 at the licence centre. The school skill test replaces the centre skill test.
Does TheoryLane cover hazard prediction (危険予測) questions?
Yes. Japan's car and motorcycle theory exams include hazard-prediction items with ア・イ・ウ sub-questions. TheoryLane includes these question types with illustrations and explanations in Japanese and Myanmar.
Can I study Japan theory tests in Myanmar language?
Yes. TheoryLane provides Myanmar (Burmese) translations for Japan car (普通免許) and motorcycle (二輪免許) practice questions, alongside Japanese — helpful for Myanmar workers preparing for the 本免許学科試験.
Is it really free?
Yes. All lesson and practice questions are free. Free accounts get one mock test per category per day. Premium removes ads, unlocks unlimited mock tests, and saves your quiz history.
How do I pay for premium and when does it start?
Choose monthly or yearly, transfer via KBZPay or WavePay, then submit your transaction ID and payment screenshot. We approve manually — usually within a few hours — and your premium time starts the moment it is confirmed.
